Root Canals In Redondo Beach

What Are The Signs I Might Need A Root Canal?

Root canal therapy is the best way to save and preserve an infected tooth. Tooth infections are a very serious oral health issue, and can lead to tooth loss or even a life-threatening infection if they are left untreated.

There are a few different signs that you may need a root canal. A serious, painful, and prolonged toothache is often the first sign you’ll notice. As the infection gets worse, the nerves inside the tooth will start to die, causing serious pain and discomfort.

Other signs include swelling, inflammation, and discoloration of the gums near your tooth. The tooth itself may also be grayish, dark, or otherwise discolored. Sensitivity to heat, cold, and pressure may also cause you a lot of discomfort even if you’re not experiencing a toothache.

If you notice one or more of these signs, you should come to ARTSCI Dental right away. Dr. Anthony Nguyen is here to help with expert root canal therapy in Redondo Beach. With timely treatment, you can save your tooth, eliminate your pain, and preserve your smile for years to come. Contact us online now for an appointment.

Initial consultation

First, you’ll need to come to ARTSCI Dental for a diagnosis. Dr. Nguyen will examine your mouth to determine if you have an infected tooth, and whether or not a root canal is appropriate for treating your condition. Depending on your case, you may need to get emergency treatment immediately, or you may schedule a follow-up appointment for a later date.

Preparing & numbing your teeth

To begin your treatment, Dr. Nguyen will clean your teeth and numb the treatment area. Numbing ensures that you won’t feel any pain or discomfort as he treats your mouth.

Cleaning the inside of the tooth

Once your mouth is numb, Dr. Nguyen will trim away damaged tooth material and make an opening in the tooth’s surface. Then, he will use special tools to clean out the infected tooth material, eliminating the source of the infection.

Filling & restoring the tooth

After the tooth has been cleaned out, Dr. Nguyen will fill it with a rubber-like material that replaces the missing pulp. Then, he will restore the tooth with a filling or a temporary dental crown, depending on your case. If he opts for a crown, you will need to come back for follow-ups to have a permanent porcelain crown built and placed onto your tooth.
